ADEKANATE B series are widely used in the synthetic emulsion and paint industries. ADEKANATE B-198 and B-199 are used as defoamers for elastic pattern paints and they have excellent defoaming effects with glossy capability.
 
B-198 and B-199 are composed of special nonion /silicon mixture and all show excellent compatibility for both defoaming and glossy effect.

Characteristics
 
1.    Has excellent defoaming effect for elastic paints
 
2.     Does not inhibit gloss characteristics of the paints
 
 
Application
 
In various formulations ADEKANATE can be added by:
 
1.    Grinding it with the pigment,
 
2.    Mixing it with the latex emulsion,
 
3.    Mixing it with the finished product.
 
Combinations of 1+2, and/or 1+3 would be most effective.
 
Suggested starting point: Add 0.3 to 1% based on weight of the total formula. This amount may be modified in either direction to obtain desired result.

Evaluation
 
Defoaming and glossy effect of each defoamer is tested.
 
Defoaming effect: Paint, containing 0.5 % of defoamer, is applied onto a steel plate by pattern roller brush and appearance is observed.
 
Glossy effects: Paint, containing 0.5% of defoamer, is applied onto a glass plate by 254μm(10mil) applicator and after one night reflectivity by 60° angle is checked.
